Fund raising for the two great Charities, Adventure Ashram and the Rainbow Trust
Adventure Ashram The initial aim is for Adventure Ashram to provide a
medical and educational care and assistance facility to a remote village
community on a Global
Enduro route in
The education programme will consist of conducting evening classes for village children to raise awareness about vital and diverse topics such as the environment, watershed management, computer science, social studies, use of pesticides and fertilizers (and their effect on the village environment), self-esteem, first aid, sex and sexuality, HIV/AIDS and career options. Also we feel that a programme including art and music is essential as this is something children in remote villages will never be taught at school.
Rainbow Trust Children's Charity Rainbow Trust Children's Charity provides emotional and practical support to families who have a child with a life threatening or terminal illness. Rainbow Trust's Family Support Workers join the family in their own home and are there to provide practical support. We are contactable 24 hours a day for families in crisis from diagnosis, through treatment and even after bereavement.
This year
Rainbow Trust celebrates its 25th anniversary. Founded in 1986, we have now
supported thousands of families who have a child with a life threatening or
terminal illness. With the help of the families who share their inspirational
stories about the difference Rainbow has made to their lives, we have been
able to raise our profile and tell more people about the work that we do. THE CHALLENGE Driving 2,000 kms across And as if that isn't enough! How about doing it in a 1950s car. The 37 horsepower Ambi (like an original
Morris Oxford). Then add elephants and
other wildlife that have never read the Highway Code and the most chaotic
road system on earth. And all in a
country which most of us have no frame of reference for, and you begin to
realise what a challenge this can be. The Karma Enduro is not for the
faint-hearted as it will challenge to the limits participants' awareness,
commitment and spirit. Above all, it
is not a race - the challenge is to complete the course in one piece. The route includes ascending and descending
high mountains, crossing fearfully hot and arid deserts, getting through
crowded cities and remote forests.
Just a day or two would be enough but driving these cars in these
conditions for two weeks in 90 degree heat is a serious challenge of endurance,
hence Karma Enduro. For more information visit www.karmaenduro.com
